Iranian Zurkaneh

Zurkhaneh that literally means ‘house of strength', is the traditional gymnasium of urban Persia. Until the mid-20th century the Zurkhaneh was associated primarily with wrestling and chivalry qualities. I visited several zurkaneh in Iran: Tehran, Yazd, Esfahan.
